Praised by The New York Times and recognized as an "already well-known classical composer" by the BBC, Gilad Hochman is widely regarded as one of Israel's most prominent composers, known for his original and meaningful contributions to new classical music, internationally.
 
Hochman has been based in Berlin, Germany since 2007. He began studying piano at the age of 6 and delved into composition at just 9 years old. From age 14 he studied composition under Dr. Ilya Heifets and Piano under Dr. Mark Shaviner at the Herzliya Music Conservatory. Graduating with honors from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University, Hochman's music has evolved into a distinct language that blends Classical Music traditions with elements of Jewish and Israeli culture, and other cultural influences, striking a balance between rational and emotional expressions.
 
Among his numerous accolades, Hochman made history as Israel's youngest Composer-in-Residence of a professional orchestra at 22 and becoming the youngest recipient of Israel's prestigious Prime Minister's Prize at age 24, in 2007. Additionally, he stands as the first Israeli composer to present an orchestral work at the German Parliament in 2015. Hochman's compositions have claimed top honors in various competitions worldwide, including winning the North Carolina NewMusic Initiative Orchestral Composition Competition (2023), Edition 49's Mandolin Composition Competition (2023), Cambridge Chamber Singers Composition Competition (2018), the S&R Foundation's Washington Award (2016), and many others.
 
As an internationally engaged composer, Hochman's works have been performed by renowned musicians, ensembles, choirs, and orchestras at venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Berlin Philharmonie, Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, St James's Piccadilly (London), and Henry Crown Symphony Hall (Jerusalem). His music has also been featured at prestigious festivals spanning from Summerwinds Münsterland and the Heidelberg Biennale for New Music to the World Saxophone Congress and Molyvos International Music Festival in Greece.
 
Hochman received commissions and performances from distinguished groups like RIAS Kammerchor, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Festival Ensemble, Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, International Saxophone Academy, Israeli Chamber Project, and Ensemble Sirenot, among others.

Supported by various philanthropists and cultural foundations such as the Goethe-Institut, Austrian Cultural Forum, America-Israel Cultural Foundation, the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund, Yehoshua Rabinovich Arts Foundation, Zfunot Tarbut, and Ronen Arts Fund, Hochman continues to contribute to the realm of new classical music with his captivating compositions.
